Hurricane Ike update

We survived Hurricane Ike.  All middle school and high school football games were cancelled last week.  Friday, everything closed down (schools and my work) to give people a chance to get prepared (i.e. stock up on food, water, and gas; do laundry; mow the yard; etc.)  It rained at our house on Saturday and the wind blew, but nothing happened that we haven’t experienced in Oklahoma.  We have a few small branches down and that’s all.  Thank you, Jesus!  We sat around watching football all day.  Go Sooners!  I took 2 naps!  It turned out to be a great weekend for our family to have nothing to do but relax.  As close as 20 miles away people do not have electricity, and won’t have any for up to a month (small towns are low on the list).  We are so blessed to have not lost electricity at all.

Our phones have been crazy here.  I was able to call Jenn today, but that was the first time I’ve been able to call a cell phone successfully.  Yesterday when I tried calling Todd, it would just ring and ring (not even go to voicemail), but I could call landlines.  Texts may take 3-6 hours before we get them.  So, if you need us, call our landline at work or use email.  As far as I can tell, all of our emails are working fine.  Please pass this info on to anyone else who may be trying to reach us.

I have more updates coming ……. with pictures………. I promise!

I was wondering how hard your area got hit. My vacation spot in Galveston is GONE! I’m so incredibly sad. My aunt and uncle and cousin’s house are totally flooded in Port Arthur but their business was spared. What a crazy and scary time! I’m so glad ya’ll are ok.

So glad to hear y’all are okay. Sounds like OK conditioned you for lots of wind. 🙂
