CBC Youth Mexico Mission Trip, March 14-20, 2009

Yes, you read that right.  MEXICO Mission Trip.  Over spring break, Central always takes a group to Piedras Negras, Mexico, for a mission trip.  This year, the media filled their news reports with warnings to people NOT to go to Mexico AT ALL over spring break.  There are many drug wars going on right now, and there are parts of Mexico that is very dangerous to be in.  However, Piedras Negras is NOT one of those cities.  Juarez, Laredo, Reynosa….those ARE dangerous cities to visit.  War is raging between the drug cartel and the military.  We didn’t take these news reports lightly.  We contacted the Pastor in Piedras often to be assured that his city was safe.  It was.  No wars were going on there.

Because of my job, it is required of me to attend the trip.  I bring my family and we enjoy a wonderful week of service.  Our group of 64 had opportunities to work at a church and orphanage in Acuna, and churches in Nava and Zaragosa.  Many lives will be changes because of the work that we were able to accomplish.  It is amazing to see God’s timing of sending our group and the people that He brings together to accomplish His work.  He receives all the glory!  We stand in Awe!

Todd and B2 ended up with B1’s team (since Todd had to drive them in the bus).  They did some amazing work in Zaragosa.  In the evening, they did VBS for the Gilgal church in Piedras.  My main job was Cook, so K and I were mostly at the school spending our day cleaning and preparing meals.
