Washington DC Trip – 4/17/2009 (part 1 of 2)

Friday morning we left bright and early for a drive to Charlottesville, VA to tour the University of VA.

Thomas Jefferson built and designed this University.  He liked symmetry, so everything mirrors each other.

This area was designed for the professors and students to live side by side.  Some still do today.
Edgar Allan Poe was a student here for 8 months.  He got kicked out because he couldn’t pay his tuition.

Next, we ate lunch at Michie Tavern.  It was so yummy!

Upstairs in the ballroom, the guide taught the kids a dance.
